Skin Care – Removing Unwanted Body and Facial Hair

The earliest recorded method of hair removal in ancient history…

The earliest recorded method of hair removal in ancient history was used by Cleopatra, the Queen of Egypt around 51 BC. Historical records tell us that Cleopatra met with her handmaidens once a month for a hair removal session. Sugar, oil, and lime juice were mixed together to make the first known “Body Sugar”. Make your own homemade body sugar for hair removal. It is effective, cost friendly, and long lasting. “Sugaring” also has disadvantages. For instance, it is time consuming, and very painful. However if you want to try it for yourself here is how to do it:

Place these ingredients in a small microwaveable safe bowl:

1 cup White Sugar.
1/4 quarter cup Honey.
1 ounce Lemon Juice

Mix ingredients as best you can. Microwave on high 1-2 minutes. Remove the bowl with pot holders and mix well. If mix is still too thick to stir microwave for 30 seconds and try mixing again. Allow to cool until its warm not hot. Take an old bed sheet and cut into strips 3 inch wide and a foot long strips.
Once at a comfortably warm temperature take a Popsicle stick or small, plastic spatula and smooth on a thin layer of the body sugar mixture on the area. Place a strip of material on top of the body sugar mixture using your hand to rub the material upwards until the mixture is well suited within the material.
Take hold of the strip and then, pull it up and off of your skin in one quick yank. You can reuse strips until they can no longer be used. Repeat and once finished wash skin with warm soapy water.
If you have any homemade body sugar left over you can save it for your next use no need to refrigerate just cover and store.

Shaving – How to shave and avoid razor burn and bumps!

If you notice your usual shaving routine isn’t giving you that smooth result each time. You probably blame it on a dull razor. Well, you are half right! It’s important to replace razor blades after 10 uses.

It’s important to prepare your skin, by soaking in a warm bath or for 5 minutes in the shower. The hot water softens the hair follicle and opens the pores of the skin to allow a much closer shave. Don’t use regular soap to shave, this will cause build up on the blade and greatly increase the chances of a cut.
Invest a few bucks on a moisturizing shaving cream such as Skintimate Moisturizing Shave Cream with Vitamin E&Aloe . Pat dry and apply a lotion rich in aloe.

Removing Hair – Exfoliates, Epicare and Mittens
Smooth awayHair off removal mittens, spring facial hair remover

Even though Exfoliates like, smooth away and Hair off mittens, return some positive reviews. They aren’t always effective for everyone. This is partly due to applying too much pressure or not following directions accurately. Although, your best bet is to try them out for yourself. It’s highly important not to over use these products on the same area. Over doing it can cause painful rug burn! Ouch!
Be patient, use gentle circular motions and do not overly rub and you should be hairless and pain free.
Removing facial hair or mustache-
Epicare and R.e.m spring facial hair removers:
Highly positive reviews for removing unwanted facial hair. Many women report satisfied results but warn this is as painful as removing hair with tweezers. But pain is tolerated better with each use. Women who have sensitive skin find its better than shaving or using hair removal creams to get rid of that pesky facial hair or mustache! It’s less time consuming and hair is removed from the root and don’t have to do it as often as shaving.
